Get a Professional Resume From a Former Journalist
Dear Friend,
I'll get right to the point.
When I write your resume, you have a huge advantage over everybody else
in the San Francisco Bay Area who wants your dream job.
That's because most of their resumes stink.
They're usually little more than a bland bullet list of past job responsibilities.
Typically, they say nothing about what benefits you'd bring to your new employer.
But mine do.
That's because I don't just rely on a canned questionnaire - like your
typical resume writer does.
You get a personal interview with me before I write a word of your resume.
To get a really good resume, you need a writer who knows how
to conduct a professional interview.
Someone who knows how to ask probing questions that dig beneath the surface of your job history.
And that's exactly what I do.
You see, I was a journalist for nearly 25 years.
I've performed over a thousand interviews in my career. And although I'm not in journalism any more, I do more interviews that ever.
Doug Fogel

Now I interview people like Nick Stathatos of Pacifica, a recent graduate of San Francisco State University:
Hi Doug,
Your cover letter and resume are great! Now I'm ready to look for work.
Thanks for doing this!
Nick Stathatos, San Francisco, CA
And Ann Ludwigh of Oakland, who needed a resume to apply for an internal promotion for an agency of Alameda County...
Doug -
This is AMAZING! I can't believe what you were able to do with the bits and pieces of scrap paper I gave you
Ann Ludwig, Oakland California
And there was Robert Dewey of Petaluma, who wanted to return to being a technical service technician for the automotive industry after a bout of unemployment...
I like everything you did with my resume and cover letter, it all looks great. So thank you for doing it in a timly matter and I will tell all my friends about you.
Robert Dewey, Petaluma

Special note to residents outside
of the San Francisco Bay Area
(I can create a customized resume for you if you live anywhere in North America. In this case, I'll personally interview you over the phone. For more information, call me at 707-327-6709.)
Step 1 - Your free consultation. The first step to getting
your professional customized resume
The first step is to call me at 707-327-6709 for a free consultation (this call does not obligate you in any way).
We'll talk for as long as is necessary to make sure we're a good fit to work together.
Then we'll schedule an hour for an interview - either in person or over the phone.
Step 2 - Your resume interview with me
First off, I'll take as long as is necessary during our interview to get your story.
This means even though we've only scheduled an hour, you won't be charged extra if it runs longer. That's because I'm paid by the job, unlike many many of my competitors who quote a low hourly rate but pad your bill with hidden extras.
**NOTE - During your interview, I often come up with insights that help you see other opportunites you hadn't considered. Or maybe I'll help you see a new and interesting way to get your foot in the door of an industry that you have little exprience in.
(This happens all the time!)
Step 3 - I write your first resume draft and we review it together
I compose the first draft of your resume within 48 hours (usually within 24 hours).
Then I e-mail it back to you, then we discuss it. This is when you give me feedback.
Chances are, you'll have come up with something you want in your resume that we hadn't discussed during our interview. This is common, as my line of questioning also brings up things you hadn't thought much about - things that will hit you later as being critical.
(That's one of the great benefits of our interview together - you'll see yourself in a different light and recall things about your background that will help you when you get your job interview.)
Step 4 - I polish your resume and you take it out on job interviews
I write your second resume draft within 24 hours and send it back to you for any final tweaking.
If necessary, we repeat this process.
It's important to note that there's no limit on how many drafts I write because I want you to be completely happy with your resume (although usually 2 or 3 drafts is all it takes.)
And that's all there is to it!
Together we create a resume that sets you miles apart from your competitors
As you can see, when I write your resume it's a collaborative process. It's a process that really gets you thinking about all of your skills, knowledge and abilities.
And the great thing is that during your job interview, you'll be so much better prepared than your competition because we will have already discussed much of what you'll talk about in your interview with your prospective employer.
The personal touch is what separates me from other resume writers
Look, I don't run a resume factory. Nor do I work for one.
You know what I mean by resume factory? It's an outfit that farms out your resume...all to often to some hack out in the sticks or (worse) to writers who live in a country where English isn't their first language.
Most likely they'll slap your resume together from a cookie-cutter template .
And you can bet it will look like it, too (human resource professionals recognize these canned resumes immediately and toss them in the trash).
There's another important point I want to mention. I've brought it up already but it's worth repeating: I don't rely solely on a questionnaire to get your information.
Like I said, I interview you personally - at length - to get everything I need to make you look great.
I put everything I've got - over 25 years worth of writing and interviewing experience - into making your resume so compelling that your odds of getting job interviews skyrocket.
WARNING - Beware of any resume company that relies solely on a questionnaire
Look, I have to level with you.
If you decide you just have to save a few bucks by hiring a discount resume service, you'll definitely succeed.
You'll save yourself, $50, $75, maybe even $100 or more.
But are you really succeeding ? Are you really saving money? Or are you costing yourself your best shot at the job you want - and need?
You know the answer.
You also know that you'd better stand head and shoulders above everyone else who wants your dream job if you're to have any chance at getting it.
And that's what I do - make you stand out by highlighting your skills, accomplishments, achievements and knowledge.
Plus if you have any blemishes in your work history, I'll downplay them so that they don't detract from all the benefits you'd bring to your prospective employer.
